Notes:
“Documented” cases are healthcare workers who have contracted HIV through work related injury. All other risk factors were ruled out and exposure on the job was documented.
The “possible” cases in healthcare workers have been investigated and are without identifiable behavioral or transfusion risks. Although each person had experienced exposure to blood or body fluids, or laboratory solutions containing HIV, a specific job-related incident resulting in a HIV positive blood test was not documented.
